Cecilia Cornejo, Xavier Tavera Castro and Sara Cluggish featured in book on Latin art in Minnesota
Cornejo is lecturer in cinema and media studies, Tavera Castro is assistant professor of art and Cluggish is director and curator of the Perlman Teaching Museum at Carleton.
Cecilia Cornejo, lecturer in cinema and media studies, and Xavier Tavera Castro, assistant professor of art, are two of twelve Minnesota-based artists featured in the recently published book, “Latin Art in Minnesota: Conversations and What’s Next.” Through interviews conducted by other artists, cultural producers and activists, the artists featured in the book reflect on crucial themes of immigration, identity and the preservation of traditions in diaspora. Cornejo was interviewed by Los Angeles-based actor and filmmaker Carlos Carrasco, while Tavera Castro was in conversation with Sara Cluggish, director and curator of the Perlman Teaching Museum at Carleton. Edited by independent curator William G. Franklin, the book is available through the University of Minnesota Press.
