New Carleton Art Exhibits Address Climate Change Through Photography and New Media
11 September 2014Two new exhibitions in the Carleton College Perlman Teaching Museum will address the impact of climate change through photography and other new media. Featuring the work of two Carleton alumni, Christina Seely ’98 and Ken Tape ’99, both exhibits explore time, space, and evidence of climate change in the Arctic landscape.

Carleton, St. Olaf and the Northfield Community will come together on Saturday, Jan. 18 to present the Northfield Area Climate Summit, a free community-led information and discussion forum for area residents, businesses and institutions. Featuring keynote speaker meteorologist Paul Douglas, the Summit will be held at St. Olaf College in the Buntrock Commons and is free and open to the public. James Pizzuto ’75 presents “The Essential Role of Geology in Sustainable Watershed Management”
4 November 2013James (Jim) Pizzuto ’75 will present “The Essential Role of Geology in Sustainable Watershed Management” on Friday, Nov. 8 at 3:30 p.m. in Olin Hall 149. Pizzuto, the Bernstein Geologist-In-Residence, is a professor of geology at the University of Delaware College of Earth, Ocean and Environment. His presentation is free and open to the public.

Carleton College will be recognized twice this month as one of 20 colleges and universities nationwide that exemplify the mission of the American College & University Presidents’ Climate Commitment (ACUPCC) to re-stabilize the earth’s climate through education, research, and community engagement. The “Celebrating Sustainability” series highlights the sustainability initiatives of finalists for the 2013 Second Nature Climate Leadership Awards. In tandem with the series, Carleton is vying for the top spot in a public video voting competition.
