Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration Video Available
21 January 2009The Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebration, held at Carleton’s Skinner Memorial Chapel on Monday, Jan. 19, is now available for viewing via streaming video. The event featured guest speaker Mary Easter, Rae Schupack Nathan Professor of Dance and the Performing Arts, emerita, as well as musical performances by the Northfield Youth Concert Choir and Jamaal Magee ’10 (Chicago). The event was co-sponsored by the Northfield Human Rights Commission, which presented its 2009 Human Rights Award to Cherif Keita, professor of French and Francophone studies, as part of the evening’s celebration.

Hesterberg ’11 Quoted in Star Tribune Story on Textbooks
29 December 2008Carleton sophomore Michelle Hesterberg was quoted in a Star Tribune article that examined what colleges and univerisities (and its students) are doing to fight rising text book costs. Hesterberg elected not to purchase one of her text books as an “e-book,” as the paper copy appeals to her. “I still really like having that paper copy,” she said. 15 October 2008This week at Carleton, our student photographers captured images from the football team’s exhilirating win over nationally-ranked Augsburg for Homecoming, “A Solider’s Tale” musical performance and the weekly convocation series given by Joseph Melrose, who served three decades in the Foreign Service, including a stint as the U.S. Ambassador to Sierra Leone.
