Robert A. Oden, Jr. Named 10th President of Carleton College
8 February 2002Robert A. Oden, Jr., president of Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio, has been appointed the 10th president of Carleton College, as announced today by the College’s Board of Trustees. Oden (pronounced O-DEEN) succeeds the retiring Stephen R. Lewis, Jr., effective July 1, 2002.

27 November 2001Barrie Osborne, executive producer of the Oscar-winning film “The Matrix” and a 1966 graduate of Carleton College, will host a pre-release screening of his film “Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring” on Wednesday, Dec. 12 at the State Theatre in Minneapolis.

Carleton College Sophomore Offers Insight to Classmates
26 October 2001John Sheesley, a sophomore at Carleton, thought he would never go to college. “I know what it’s like to live thinking that way,” he said. “It’s really easy to get into a cycle where you put it off and put it off, and all of the sudden you’re 50 years old and it’s too late.” However, Sheesley finally had what he calls “the chance of a lifetime” at the age of 28. “I have an overwhelming sense of appreciation and thankfulness to [Carleton’s] admissions staff…they took a chance on me,” he said.
