Carleton Symphony Band to Give Spring Concert
The Carleton College Symphony Band, directed by Ronald Rodman, associate professor of music, will perform at 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 8 in the Carleton College Concert Hall. The event is free and open to the public.

The Symphony Band will wrap up its season with a musical salute to Carleton senior students and their parents. The program will feature “Rondo for Brass” composed by Michael Berger, a senior psychology major from Pewaukee, Wisc., and a piece conducted by David Greenfield, a senior music major from Northfield, Minn. Also on the program will the “William Byrd Suite” by British composer Gordon Jacob and other pieces from the concert band repertoire.
Ronald Rodman, the director of the symphony band and the symphonic winds, received his Ph.D. in music theory from Indiana University. His research interests include Schenkerian analysis, musical semiotics and music and the media, and he has contributed articles to the College Music Symposium, Journal of Music Theory and Indiana Theory Review, as well as to the book “Music and Cinema.”
