Carleton College Senior to Present “The Love of the Nightingale”
Senior Rachel Teagle, a theater major from Saratoga, California, will present her production of the play “The Love of the Nightingale” as part of her final academic project. Performances will take place Thursday, May 22; Friday, May 23; and Saturday, May 24 at 8 p.m. in the Arena Theater. All performances are free and open to the public.

“The Love of the Nightingale” is a contemporary rendition of the Greek myth of Philomele and Tereus. Written by Timberlake Wertenbaker, author of “Our Country’s Good,” the play was originally commissioned by the Royal Shakespeare Company in 1989.
Teagle’s production stars Lily Dominguez ’10 (Chicago) as Philomele, Chasya Hill ’10 (Bessemer, Ala.) as Procne, and Max Herzl-Betz ’08 (Elmira, N.Y.) as Tereus. The rest of the cast includes Laura Stratford ’09 (Belmont, Mass.), Sari Cornfeld ’08 (St. Louis), Robert Hildebrandt ’09 (Los Angeles), Bob Keating ’09 (Bozeman, Mont.), Julie McCormick ’11 (Shorewood, Wis.), and Emily Ruff ’09 (Mendota Heights, Minn.). Teagle’s directorial assistants are Hal Edmonson ’09 (Madison, Wis.) and Karen Borchert ’08 (Duluth, Minn.).
