Brian Purrington ’73 and family donate land for new Minnesota Scientific and Natural Area
Brian Purrington and his wife, Anne W. Purrington ’73, both studied psychology at Carleton.
The Purrington family donated their 40-acre tract of unplowed prairie to Minnesota in order for it to become one of the state’s newest Scientific and Natural Areas (SNAs), protecting a never-plowed prairie ecosystem that’s home to a large population of threatened bush prairie clover. SNAs are a key tool in the fight to save plant and animal species from extinction.
