Barbara Gislason ’74 receives Excellence in the Advancement in Animal Law Award

Barbara Gislason ’74 has received the Excellence in the Advancement in Animal Law Award from the American Bar Association (ABA) Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section (TIPS).
In May, Gislason traveled to Los Angeles, California to accept the award. Presenters at the ceremony emphasized Gislason’s unique role in launching Animal Law as a practice area in the Minnesota State Bar Association (MSBA), nationally in the ABA, and now internationally in the UIA, with the creation of the Animal Law Commission, the first of its kind in a European-based international organization. Speakers at the ceremony honoring Gislason described her visionary thinking, compassion, perseverance, and team building as to why her continuing efforts have had worldwide impact.
