Ariel Alexander ’24 interviewed by MinnPost about medical research internship
Alexander studies biology at Carleton and hopes to attend medical school after and work in pediatric oncology.
Ariel Alexander ’24 was recently interviewed by MinnPost to discuss her summer research at the University of Alabama’s Institute for Cancer Outcomes and Survivorship. Alexander helped researchers there with a study looking at how financial barriers in health care affect children with cancer and their families toward the end of a child’s life.
To fund her internship, Alexander was chosen as one of 10 students nationwide to share the $50,000 Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation’s 2022 Pediatric Oncology Student Training Program grant. Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation is a pediatric cancer charity and Alexander’s grant was announced by sponsor Northwestern Mutual insurance company.
