Héctor Melo Ruiz, assistant professor of Spanish, recently published “Lettered Representations of the Radio, the Press and the Intellectual in Two Novels of the Bogotazo” in Cuadernos de Literatura from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana. His essay analyzes the literary representation of the press, radio and intellectuals in two novels written in response to Bogotá’s 1948 riot— “el Bogotazo: El 9 de Abril” (1951) by Pedro Gómez Corena and “La Calle 10” (1960) by Manuel Zapata Olivella.
