Amna Khalid, associate professor of history, published an article titled “The Rushdie Attack Underlines the Value of Teaching Challenging Books” in Times Higher Education (UK). She argues that cutting out “harmful” books from school curricula stems from a profound misunderstanding of their power to broaden perspectives and create empathy, among other helpful effects.
