Groups of 4-8 volunteers will be sent to designated sections of Northfield where they will have until 8:30 p.m. to collect as many canned goods as possible. At 8:30, the volunteer groups will congregate at the Sayles Hall campus center to drop off their collections and determine which group has collected the highest number of cans per volunteer. In 2007, the victors collected 49 cans each! The winning group receives a grand prize of dinner with President Oden.

Mortar Board at Carleton College comprises one of 206 chapters of an 85-year-old national honor society that recognizes college seniors for achievements in scholarships, leadership, and service. Mortar Board strives to provide leadership development opportunities for Carleton students, while providing service to the college, the Northfield community, and beyond.
