New Student Week Program Assistants
I’m from Claremont, CA, and I’m a rising senior majoring in Economics and minoring in Archaeology. During the school year, I work as a Student Ambassador for the Alumni Relations Office, planning and hosting class events like First-Year Fall Day, Major Declaration, or Senior Banquet. I also love spending time outside, running, hiking, and playing piano.
I am a rising senior majoring in Political Science/International Relations from Atlanta, GA. I currently play for CUT, one of six frisbee teams at Carleton. I am also a DJ for KRLX 88.1FM, our very own 24/7 radio station, a TA for Observational Astronomy, and the Communications Officer for the Carleton Student Administration, our very own student government.

Hi all! My name is Jens Bartel and I am a rising senior biology from Oxford, OH. At Carleton, I’m involved in Club Nordic Skiing, Student-Faculty Research, and Music, among other things. I can’t wait to meet the incoming students and get to share what makes Carleton so special!
I’m a member of the Class of 2026 from St. Louis, Missouri. At Carleton, I study computer science and music as my majors, but I love taking math classes as well. When I’m not studying, you can typically find me playing trombone, at board game club, or hanging out with friends. In my remaining time, I often attempt, to little avail, to improve at Rocket League.
My name is Laura, I’m a Senior Psychology major and Gender, Women’s & Sexuality Studies minor from San Francisco, CA. I’m a member of Eclipse, one of Carleton’s 6 frisbee teams, I work with Project Friendship (an organization that builds mentoring relationships between students from Carleton and St. Olaf and elementary and middle school students), and I do research in a Cognitive Science lab about decision making. I love to go on arb walks and craft in the maker space in my free time!

At Carleton, I’m a part of the Lovelace board (our club for gender minorities in computer science), have a KRLX radio show every term, and like to climb and play tennis with my friends. I’ve gone on two study abroad programs and am excited to also be an Off-Campus Studies Fellow this school year!

Started off premed, ventured into stats, and, somewhere in the middle, pivoted to the humanities. I am Marta, a senior CAMS major/Classics minor. I am the captain of Carleton’s Ballroom Dance Team, and a member of other dance groups, such as Latin Social Dance Club and Synchrony. At Carleton, I work as a Russian TA and a Production Office Assistant — this means that I know a lot about cinema cameras and projecting movies. I am a Seattle native, a prospective Econ/Math double major, a sports photographer for Carleton, and beach volleyball enthusiast (and intramural winner). I am the VP of Carleton’s investment banking/private equity/venture capital club (the best club on campus) and want to work somewhere in finance. I also love lifting weights, eating in LDC for way too long, playing pool in Sayles, and losing to my roommate in chess.
