2025 Frank G & Jean M. Chesley Lecture in Neuroscience featuring Dr. Margaret McCarthy

"Power Play: Modeling Neurodevelopmental Disorders in Rodents" presented by Dr. Margaret McCarthy
In this talk we will explore a specific node in the neural network controlling play and playfulness in the laboratory rat, how it is different in males and females and how it is influenced by modulator factors such as genetics, immune responsesand developmental exposure to cannabis.
We will further describe the impact of being deprived of play and adult sociosexual behavior. Understanding the complexities of the neural networks controlling play and playfulness provides fundamental knowledge of adolescent brain development and provides guidance for ongoing and future therapeutic approaches.
Reception to follow the lecture.
