The Carleton College Singers will perform six times in the Boston area next week (March 22-25). The program features Minnesota composers, including Alex Freeman, Gao Hong, Carol Barnett, Brent Michael Davids, Rene Clausen, Robert Morris, and the late Stephen Paulus.
The Carleton Singers are conducted by professor of music, Lawrence Burnett. “It is a pleasure to direct this ensemble, which has been lauded for energetic and emotional performances while sustaining high degrees of excellence in choral singing,” Burnett says.
The group was featured in a concert performance at Carnegie Hall to commemorate Martin Luther King, Jr., demonstrated the singing of African American spirituals at an American Choral Directors Association North Central Convention, and performed at a conference of the Minnesota Music Educators Association. Concert tours have included New York City, Chicago, Los Angeles, New Orleans, Madison, and Washington, D.C, including a performance at the White House.
Boston area alumni, parents, and friends are encouraged to attend. All performances are free and open to the public.
