Exhibition Tour with Kamala GhaneaBassiri ’22
An opening-weekend exhibition tour led by Kamala GhaneaBassiri ’22 (they/them), MA candidate in Religion and Visual Arts at Yale Divinity School and a co-curator of the exhibition.
Originally from Portland, Oregon and currently based in Western Massachusetts, GhaneaBassiri’s work explores how museums represent religion—particularly Islam—and how contemporary artists challenge or reshape curatorial and art-historical narratives.
They majored in Religious Studies at Carleton College and have worked in museums as an educator at the Art Institute of Chicago, a curatorial intern at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, and most recently as a curatorial fellow at the Smith College Museum of Art.
This event is presented in conjunction with The Manifest, The Hidden: Geometry and Islam in Contemporary Art, on view January 15–April 12, 2026 in the Perlman Teaching Museum.
