Doreen Lynette Garner (b. 1986, Philadelphia, PA) is a sculptor, performance artist, and licensed tattoo artist who lives and works in Brooklyn, NY. Since graduating from Rhode Island School of Design with an MFA in glass in 2014, Garner has created fleshy, corporeal sculptures made from soft silicone, urethane foam and latex and often embedded with glass beads, pearls Swarovski crystals, synthetic hair, surgical staples, steel pins and surgical clamps.
Garner’s work has been presented at Halle Für Kunst Steiermark, Graz, AT; MoMA PS1, New York; The National Museum of African American History, Washington; and Pioneer Works, New York, among others. Garner has held residencies and fellowships at Recess Art, New York; the International Studio and Curatorial Program, Socrates Sculpture Park, New York; Pioneer Works, New York and the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, Madison.
