LTC Winter Conference - Exploring Inclusive Practices in Your Courses

Mon, December 9, 2024 • 2:45pm - 4:15pm (1h 30m) • Weitz 236

Facilitators: Elijah Genheimer, Accessibility Specialist, Beatriz Pariente-Beltrán, Senior Lecturer in Spanish, and  Don Vosburg, Academic Technologist for Learning Innovation

Stipend: $50 for eligible participants

If you are hoping to make improvements to any of your courses this session will be a great opportunity to get you started. This workshop will provide structure for you to examine your pedagogical practices through the lens of inclusive design and help you take stock of areas where you are excelling as well as areas for improvement. Using frameworks like Trauma Informed Pedagogy (TIP); Universal Design for Learning (UDL); & Community, Agency, Representation, Equal Access (CARE) you will have the opportunity to identify barriers to student learning and different strategies to improve your courses. We’ll also share with you a new initiative from the LTC, OAR, & ITS to help support you in implementing changes you have identified. If you are unfamiliar with TIP, UDL, CARE, or other inclusive teaching frameworks we encourage you to attend our first session “Introduction to Inclusive Course Design” before this workshop.
