The fundamental objective of MMUF is to broaden the range of perspectives in the humanities, arts, and humanistic social sciences. As such, the program is designed to prepare fellows to enter PhD programs in those fields. The program is not designed to support students who intend to go on to medical school, law school, business school, or other professional schools, nor does it support students who intend to pursue a PhD in a non-humanities discipline. The program is generally not designed for students who intend to pursue a terminal MA. However, we understand that obtaining a MA en route to a PhD may be beneficial in some disciplines, and we want our fellows to be set up for success. Fellows must have an undergraduate major and intend to pursue a PhD in one of the following fields.
