The fundamental objective of the MMUF program is to address, over time, the problem of underrepresentation among humanities faculties. As such, the program is designed to prepare fellows to enter Ph.D. programs that develop students into scholars who will have professorial careers. The program is not intended to support students who intend to go on to medical school, law school, business school, or other professional schools, nor does it support students who intend to pursue a Ph.D. in a non-humanities discipline.
