David and Marian Adams Bryn-Jones Distinguished Teaching Professor of the Humanities, Classics

Clara Hardy (BA Oberlin College, PhD Brown University) started teaching at Carleton in 1990. Her research has focused on gender and sexuality in the ancient world, the performance of Greek and Roman drama, and Athenian social history; she also has a number of publications on the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning. She teaches Greek and Latin at all levels, as well as courses on gender and sexuality, myth, and drama. You can read more about her partnerships with Ruth Weiner in producing Greek tragedy at Carleton in the Society for Classical Studies’ Amphora journal (now converted to their blog). In addition, here it is a link to the classics blog Clara Hardy mentions in the interview.

From 2020–2023 she was the director of the Humanities Center, where she started the Humanities Centered podcast to disseminate information on the various programs supported by the center.
