Math and Stat Opportunities

The University of Minnesota Division of Biostatistics & Health Data Science and the Masonic Institute for the Developing Brain invite undergraduate students to apply for the Equitable Data Science in Adolescent Development Summer Research Program for Undergraduates.  The program will run June 3, 2024-August 9, 2024.  The deadline to apply is January 31, 2024.

North Carolina State University is currently inviting qualified applicants to apply for DRUMS (Directed Research in Mathematics and Statistics) REU program in the summer of 2024.  The program runs May 28-August 2, 2024.  Selected participants will receive a $7,000 stipend, housing, and funding to participate in a conference.  Applicant screening will start on February 15, 2024.

The Institute for Pure and Applied Mathematics (IPAM) is currently looking for students interested in industrial research.  The projects cover a wide range of real-world topics, including big data, optimization, transportation, quantum computing, and biotech.  Application deadline is February 13, 2023.  RIPS-LA runs from June 20-August 18, 2023 and RIPS-Singapore runs May 22-July 21, 2023.

Do you have an interest in finance?  The World Bank Treasury in Washington, DC is looking for summer interns.  Applications will be accepted through January 2, 2022.

RStudio has now opened up their internship opportunities for this summer. The start date is May 24-June 7, depending on your availability. To qualify, you must currently be a student and have some experience writing code in R and using Git and GitHub. You would be working 100 percent remotely and you will meet with your mentor regularly online. Applications are now being accepted and no application deadline.

Polymath Jr. is offering a remote collaborative mathematical research opportunity for undergraduate students this summer. The program consists of research projects on a wide variety of mathematics topics. Each project is guided by an active researcher with experience in undergraduate mentoring. All undergraduates who have experience with writing mathematical proofs are eligible. There are no citizenship restrictions and the participants could be anywhere in the world. However, online meetings are likely to follow US hours. The program runs from June 21-August 15, 2021. Application deadline is April 1 and submitted through mathprograms.org.

The Ohio State University is hosting Research Opportunities in Mathematics for Undergraduate Students (ROMUS) from June-August 2021. Applications from students from traditionally underrepresented groups are particularly encouraged to apply. Applicant screening will begin the end of the February and continue until all slots are filled.
