State and federal agencies often fail to meaningfully engage Tribal Nations, neglecting their values in resource management. This lack of collaboration can harm both human and wildlife communities. In this presentation, Roger Faust will discuss his community-based participatory research approach, which he has used to integrate Tribal perspectives into culturally-specific outreach and management plans. He will showcase his work with regional Tribes on combating chronic wasting disease, a threat to traditions and food security. Roger will also outline his vision for building partnerships between Carleton College and Tribal Nations to support sovereignty and environmental stewardship.
