Informational Meeting for F'26 Carleton Cross-Cultural Psychology Program in Prague, Czech Republic: Tues 1/20 @ 5:15 pm

Would you be interested in studying in Prague on a Carleton program during the fall of 2026? If so, you are encouraged to attend an informational meeting on Tuesday, 1/20 at 5:15 pm in Anderson 121. Three students from the fall 2024 program will be present along with the program director to share their experience and answer questions. (Individuals who attended the fall informational meeting needn't attend this one as well.)

Students will live and study in Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic and one of Europe’s most beautiful cities (see attached photos). Since the Velvet Revolution of 1989, which brought an end to 44 years of communism, Prague has been at the forefront of the sweeping social, cultural, and economic transformations of Central Europe. To help experience the culture and history of the region firsthand, students will participate in lectures, discussions, cultural events, walking tours, and out-of-town trips.

Required courses of study include Cross-Cultural Psychopathology; Directed Reading in Cross-Cultural Psychology; and Politics and Culture of Central Europe in the 20th Century. Students can elect to take Elementary Czech Language or Czech Art and Architecture for their final course. (For senior psychology majors, the Cross-Cultural Psychopathology course qualifies as the capstone seminar.)

There will be a number of single-day and multi-day excursions to other sites in the region, including Poprad and the High Tatra mountains in Slovakia, Krakow and the Auschwitz concentration camp in Poland, and the historic towns of Karlovy Vary and Český Krumlov in the Czech Republic.
