Biology Seminar: Emily Runnells, “Not Exactly Snowbirds: What Do Puffins Do in the Winter?”
Mon, May 13, 2024
• 3:30pm
- 4:30pm (1h) • Olin 141
Atlantic Puffins are a well-recognized and much-loved seabird of the North Atlantic Ocean, but their lives outside the summer breeding season remain largely a mystery. Emily will share stories about how creative science technologies can be used in the field and lab to study puffin ecology during the 9-10 months of the year when they are out at sea. Because Atlantic Puffins are an imperiled species in an ocean region undergoing major change, these new insights into their natural history have important conservation implications.
