Anderson Display Case Mudd date stone

This is the date stone from Seeley G. Mudd Hall of Science that was torn down in 2017 to make way for Anderson Hall. Mudd Hall was the home of the geology and chemistry departments. Behind the date stone is a copper box that served as a time capsule that was placed behind the date stone. During a final celebration of Mudd Hall in the summer of 2017 the date stone was removed and the contents examined. The contents were mostly files listing data describing the state of the chemistry and geology departments in 1975. It was clear from the inserted information that it was expected the time capsule would not be opened for at least 100 years, instead of the 42 years the building lasted. To the right is a program from the dedication ceremony of the building.
