祝贺您,麦老师!I was a freshman in 2000 with no plans to take a language. On a whim, I signed up for Chinese and will forever remember the first day of class: the stuffed rabbit and the map, the cotton balls and the noodles. I moved to China after graduating from Carleton and lived there for two years. I am still close to the friends I met there, which requires me to keep up with my Chinese!

I am a professor now, myself, (English, not Chinese) and Mai Laoshi’s combination of high expectations and exceptional kindness is my model for what I want to be in the classroom. The best of the best.
