Mai Laoshi! After first having a native Mandarin speaker as my first teacher in high school, I found your PhD-in-linguistics-informed teaching soooooo much better and easier to process. Cramming for vocab quizzes over my breakfast every morning for that – was it really 7:30 am, M-F class back in 1991-1992? – was actually not that painful. I only wish my teachers at the Foreign Service Institute, where I painfully learned French and Spanish later on, were anywhere near as talented. I wish you all the best.
