Congratulations on your retirement, Mai Laoshi! I appreciate how you pushed students to succeed while maintaining supportive classroom environments. Thank you for letting me take Chinese 347 (Newspapers) as a first-year (still one of the hardest courses I’ve ever taken), for encouraging me to study abroad with CET Harbin (and for being so sure I’d get in), and for the great conversation at reunion a few years ago.
