Kaga-Sensei, I was both surprised and delighted to hear of your retirement. Although I only had the pleasure of learning from you for two terms, you helped me rediscover how much I loved this language (and corrected my overly-French inspired pronunciation of 「じゃ」, for which I am grateful). I also remember that you were the one who nudged me to accept the JET position out of many possible post-Carleton plans. I still consider that one of the most fortuitous decisions I’ve ever made; it indelibly shaped my life, and the way I have learned to make a home wherever I am in the world. お疲れ様でした。
