Nov. 5, 2019: Self-Assessment as a Tool for Student Learning

18 November 2019

This session will address ways that faculty can incorporate self-assessment as one component of student feedback. Effective self-assessment encourages the development of metacognitive skills necessary for higher-order thinking. Faculty, staff, and student panelists will share their experiences with self-assessment at Carleton, including benefits, challenges, various options, and student perceptions. Participants will receive resources on identifying and implementing appropriate self-assessments and have time to discuss in small groups their contexts and when and why they might incorporate self-assessment into their work with students.
