Oct 3, 2017: Perfectionist Culture at Carleton: What is it costing us, and how can we improve?

28 February 2018

Join us for a presentation and discussion designed to (1) examine perfectionistic messages and norms that can pervade at Carleton, (2) identify the impact on students (as well as faculty and staff), and (3) explore ways we can take intentional action to shift cultural norms from “the perception of failure as something to be avoided at all costs, to something that has meaning, purpose, and value” and to “help students learn from failure and to instill a sense of belonging and bravery” (adapted from Stanford’s Resilience Project mission statement).
