Grading for Equity:

What It Is, Why It Matters, and How It Can Transform Schools and Classrooms

by Joe Feldman, CEO of Crescendo Education Group, a consulting organization that partners with school and districts to help teachers use improved and more equitable grading and assessment practices.
Corwin (October 2018)

This book challenges a number of conventional wisdoms on how to do grading. It suggests, somewhat controversially, that many of our common grading practices are inequitable. While the book is intended for a K-12 audience, most of what the book contains translates to higher-ed. This book would seem appropriate at any time, but perhaps especially now given the increase in conversations on equity.

Book group meetings:

  • Tuesday, April 20 – 4:00-5:30pm
  • Tuesday, May 11 – 4:00-5:30pm

Zoom link will be sent to registered participants.

Facilitators: Marty Baylor, Associate Professor of Physics, and Dave Musicant, Professor of Computer Science
