Disability Visibility Book Discussion Group

The LTC and the Office of Accessibility Resources are co-sponsoring this book group during winter term. We will be discussing selected essays from Disability Visibility, compiled and edited by Alice Wong. Alice Wong is the founder and director of the Disability Visibility Project. In her introduction she explains that the stories collected in this book “do not seek to explain the meaning of disability or to inspire or elicit empathy. Rather they show disabled people simply being in our own words, by our own accounts.”

You do not have to read the entire book. Each of the three sessions is self contained and will focus on 1-3 key essays centered on a specific theme. Since the discussions will be self contained you can come to any number of them depending on your availability and your interest in each session’s topic.

Books provided to the first 25 participants.
