Collaborative Teaching across Disciplinary Divides: Course Development Workshop
Facilitators: Baird Jarman, Professor of Art HIstory and Matt Whited, Professor of Chemistry
Stipend: $100 for eligible participants
This workshop is intended for any faculty members—individuals, pairs, or groups—at any stage of thinking about collaborative teaching projects. This could involve starting from scratch with brainstorming ideas for productive co-teaching, developing a project that is partially planned, putting finishing touches on a curricular-innovation grant, or revisiting a previous team-taught course. Opportunities will be provided to discuss numerous issues, such as considering multiple course modalities, planning projects with repeatability and sustainability in mind, targeting diverse student populations, coordinating projects across different departmental cultures, and others. This session will also feature a panel of Carleton faculty who are far along in the planning process for a collaborative teaching project. You need not complete the first session on this topic to participate. This session is sponsored by an NEH Connections grant, the Humanities Center and the STEM Board.
