Coaching Students on Collaboration
We often encourage our students to collaborate with each other on coursework outside of class, but we don’t always spend time helping students understand what we mean by collaboration. Similarly, we ask students to work in groups, but we don’t give them the tools to manage the difficulties of working with peers. Come share what you have tried in your classroom. In addition, we’ll explore examples of approaches that are being used at Carleton and at other institutions to make expectations around collaboration more transparent and to support more equitable collaborations.
