Is there a registration fee?

No, registration is free for everyone attending the symposium. However, we do ask that anyone planning to attend the symposium register in advance so we can have an accurate count of the number of people attending.

My research is language-related but technically “linguistics” research — can I still present at the symposium?

Definitely! We’re interested in presentations from a wide variety of disciplines and research areas related to language, not just those sub-fields traditionally included in the umbrella of “linguistics” research.

Do I need to have a final paper prepared for the symposium?

No, you certainly do not need to have a polished or published paper in order to talk about your work. If you are accepted, we will post your abstract on the conference website.

Can I submit more than one abstract?

Yes, students are allowed to submit one individual abstract and one joint abstract.

I’m not from Minnesota, can I still attend or present at the Minnesota Undergraduate Linguistics Symposium?

Of course! The schools organizing and sponsoring this conference are all from Minnesota, but that doesn’t mean students and faculty from out-of-state aren’t welcome — we’d love to have you join us!

Who can I contact if I have questions?

Questions can be emailed to muls2021@carleton.edu.
