“Quote: don’t let the perfect be the enemy of the good. This was relevant advice when I was writing comps and is still relevant now that I’m on a team designing natural language generation systems for the Google Assistant. As linguists we will never get anything done if we insist on perfection 🙂
Ways I’ve used linguistics in my personal life: I found myself on a team of linguists, so the connection between my linguistics training and professional path is a bit more direct than most. But even without that, linguistics at Carleton taught me a ton of problem-solving and data analysis skills that I use every day without realizing it.”
