Comps Title: Language and Identity: A look at language identity and language revitalization movements with a focus on Ikema

Current Employment: Student – M.Ed. in Science Curriculum at University of Washington (IslandWood)

I’m about to begin a M.Ed. in Science Curriculum. It is a two part program: the first 10 months will be the IslandWood Graduate Program in Education for Environment and Community. From there I will finish my M.Ed. at the University of Washington (Seattle). My hope is to become an outdoors-based teacher.

“What I would tell current students at Carleton now is to pursue your passions. It’s a good idea to get your graduation requirements done ASAP and not wait until senior year to do those classes you’ve been dreading (because some may suck, but some may also surprise you)! And never feel guilty for putting yourself first.

Linguistics hasn’t had the biggest impact on my post-Carleton work as of yet since I’m still working through some personal life things before I can prioritize a career. However, you’ll be surprised how many people out there are genuinely interested in what you studies. It’s always a good conversation starter :)”
