Nasal spreading in theory: An Autosegmental and Optimality Theory approach
Edwin Avalos
The phenomenon of nasal spreading provides a problem for theories of parallel evaluation. Taking a look at the derivational approach of Autosegmental Theory (Goldsmith 1973), we can try to emulate the process of autosegmental spreading so that we attempt to create a more comprehensive theory of phonology in Optimality theory.
