Gould Library is excited to invite you to pilot a new Moodle tool, Library Link, designed to simplify the integration of library resources into your course reading lists. This tool enables you to seamlessly incorporate a wide variety of Gould Library owned materials—such as print books, e-books, electronic articles, PDFs, streaming videos, and more—into your course content.

The benefits of Library Link?

  • Easy access to course materials for students (fewer clicks to reach resources).
  • Reduced costs for students, as Library Link makes it easier to utilize free or affordable library resources.
  • Maximized use of the library’s collection, ensuring that students are accessing relevant academic materials.
  • Fair use protection: Library Link helps ensure that all resources used comply with copyright regulations.
  • Access to physical reserves for course readings that require on-campus access.

Additionally, the tool provides valuable analytics to help you track student engagement, such as:

  • Active students and the number of interactions with each resource.
  • The total number of views and overall engagement for each resource.
  • Student feedback on the resources (e.g., likes or ratings).

To participate in this pilot, we ask you to share a Winter term course syllabus with us. Library staff will meet with you to demonstrate Library Link and will build your first reading list in Moodle.

Library Link will save your students time and money, and will make reading list creation quick and easy. For a brief overview of the Library Link tool (aka Leganto) please watch this very short video.

Thank you for helping Gould Library pilot this exciting new tool. If you have questions or are interested in participating, please email reserves@carleton.edu.
