If you need an item (book or article) that Carleton does not have, you must request it through InterLibrary Loan using your ILLiad account.
If you’ve found an item through one of our databases, first click the “Find It” button to see if it’s available at Carleton or St. Olaf. If it is found in Catalyst, please request it by signing in and clicking the Request a copy. If it is not available at Carleton or St. Olaf, click the “Request via ILLiad” link. You’ll be asked to log in, and the details of that item will be automatically filled in for you.
- Articles – Many of our databases will point to articles on your topic, even if Carleton and St. Olaf don’t subscribe to the journal.
- Books – You can use WorldCat to locate books that are not at Carleton or St. Olaf. Click “Request via ILLiad” to request the book. If you do not see the book you want in WorldCat, you can manually enter a Book Request form in ILLiad.
- Dissertations – Many dissertations are available through ProQuest Dissertations and Theses. You can request other dissertations through ILLiad, but be aware that many are not available for loan. Also know that many professors do not want students using dissertations and theses as sources. Please be sure that you know how you will use the dissertation before requesting it.
