Reference Librarians and CarlTechs at your service!

The Research/IT desk is the large desk in the middle of the reference room on the 4th (main) floor of the library. The desk is staffed by reference librarians and Carl Techs (student technology consultants) who can help you with any problems or questions you have while doing research at the library.


Reference Librarian Hours

Academic Term:

Librarians will be available during the following hours in person, by chat, phone (507-222-4264) or email (reference@carleton.edu):

  • Monday–Thursday: 10am – 5pm, 7pm – 9pm
    Friday: 10am – 5pm
    Sunday: 1pm – 5pm, 7pm – 9pm

You may also schedule an appointment directly with a reference librarian.


Summer, Winter, and Spring Breaks:

During breaks, chat is the fastest way to get help. For research help, chat on the lower right corner of this page 24/7. For tech help, chat on this page: go.carleton.edu/helpdesk. A reference librarian is on call during the following hours:

  • Monday–Friday: 10 am-noon, 1 pm-4 pm

CarlTech support is available in the library during the academic term. If no one is there, please visit the Help Desk page to get help.

Appointments

You may also make an appointment directly with one of our reference librarians. To make an appointment, use their online appointment schedulers, call, or email. Librarians’ offices are located along west wall and southwest hallway of the 4th floor and you can stop by.
