Information literacy is deeply connected to other areas of critical thinking. Rather than creating a separate initiative based in the library, we strive to embed information literacy into existing and emerging curricular initiatives.
Our campus continually seeks to integrate writing, oral communication, visuality, quantitative reasoning, global issues, and civic engagement into the curriculum. We participate in this effort through discussions, workshops, and events with faculty, students, and staff. Faculty regularly revise or develop assignments to ask students to engage with these modes of inquiry and communication. We work closely with faculty on these assignments and instruct and provide support for students as they work on these assignments. We also work to make our library collections and services match the changing needs of student work in these areas.
