Ellie Weston graduated from Carleton in June 2024 with a degree in studio art. The paintings she created for her comprehensive project in the major began as an investigation of the way that trees reflect in the water and water is reflected in trees. Her work is characterized by a sensitive relationship with nature, light, and color. “I wanted the water to feel like it seeps upwards into everything,” she explained. “… As I finished these works, I felt as though I had left this place and created my own world within the watercolor.”

This year, Ellie works as the Education Associate in The Class of 1969 Makerspace, where she helps students use 3D printers and scanners, computer-controlled paper cutters, and other creative materials ranging from Legos through a wide array of crafting supplies. At the makerspace, located in the college’s integrated science facility at Evelyn M. Anderson Hall, Ellie also provides students, faculty, and staff with skill training, brainstorming, and design services.
