Thoughts About Pots features artists’ books made by Erica Spitzer Rasmussen in a tribute to her late stepfather, renowned potter and professor of ceramics Warren MacKenzie. The books echo shapes of ceramic pots MacKenzie made over the course of his career, and their pages feature quotations from Rasmussen’s logs and memory of his words. Some quotes are humorous, some solemn. The handmade paper includes fibers from clay-covered overalls salvaged from his pottery studio after his death. The series is a tribute to MacKenzie, his work and his impact on those who knew him.
