Vedder Rubaiyat
Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam, Drawings by Elihu Vedder, 1884

Carleton’s Rubaiyat Collection of over 300 items offers researchers an opportunity to investigate the publishing history and cultural significance of this work during the last decades of the 19th and the first decades of the 20th centuries.

Most of the editions feature the work of Edward Fitzgerald, the English poet whose popular translation of the Rubáiyát of Omar Khayyám became part of the cultural landscape of the English speaking world. In addition to illustrated and gift editions, the collection includes amusing parodies and memorabilia.
