The Highlights Collection includes first editions of two of the most significant publications of the 18th century, Samuel Johnson’s Dictionary of the English Language and the 35 volume Encyclopédie edited by Denis Diderot and Jean le Rond d’Alembert.
Other items of particular interest are a page from Gutenberg’s 42 line Bible, Johann Bayer’s Uranometria, the Jena edition of the works of Martin Luther, English and French editions of Pierre Bayle’s Dictionnaire Historique et Critique, and Nikolaus Joseph Jacquin’s magnificent Plantarum Rariorum Horti Caesarei Schoenbrunnensis Descriptiones Et Icones.
