EURIPIDES

GILBERT MURRAY, trans.

Newtown, Montgomeryshire: Gregynog Press, 1931.
No. 429 of 500 copies.

The two-volume edition of Euripides was the largest and most expensive book produced by the press, but a delay in publication adversely affected sales, for the economic slump brought on by the Depression caused dealers to cut back on their orders. Many copies were later donated to colleges and libraries in Wales. The 32 woodcut illustrations by Robert Ashwin Maynard and Horace Walter Bray are after Greek vase paintings.
