The Carleton College Library was renamed for former College President Laurence McKinley Gould on October 13, 1995.

Carleton College’s fourth president and the namesake of the college library, Larry Gould was also a geologist, professor, and polar explorer. This online exhibit by Carleton College archivist Eric Hillemann introduces Gould’s exploits and accomplishments, on and off campus.

The exhibit was on display at the Laurence McKinley Gould Library to commemorate the occasion of its renaming.
